Omitted Facts

I struggle to remember details
I once prayed to forget
searching for lost reasons
lingering feelings
that won’t let me forgive
enough time has passed
that laughter dances across images
of intimate embraces that reverberate
within this hall
of half colored paintings
retelling this story abstractly
and hiding the dark
behind bursts of light
that shine in your eyes again
and blind me from the truth
of why you left
scratching the surface
of disillusionment
one foot planted in the now
the other retracing regret
like groping fingers
spread and grasp
clinging to fantasy
searching for
omitted facts
